Ruby Murfield smiling, wearing a blue shirt.

Ruby Murfield is a third-year undergraduate student at Tulane University studying Economics and Environmental Studies who aspires to work in public policy or other political changemaking. Introduced to Taylor through attending various design thinking and Taylor speaker events, Murfield is excited to become more immersed in the Taylor community and then share the knowledge and tools gained in the design thinking student fellowship.

Originally from Massachusetts, Murfield came to Tulane for the new opportunities and experiences New Orleans offers. Off-campus, Murfield became deeply involved in environmental activism through the “Mighty Earth Fish Yamaha Out Campaign” grassroots movement, which commits itself to systematic resource protections and ending corporate environmental degradation. She continuously works to bring awareness of sustainability to her friends and peers and looks forward to sharing her new knowledge of design thinking as a model for furthering social activism.
