Shannon L. Blady, Ph.D., is a Professor of Practice in the Teacher Preparation and Certification Program in Newcomb-Tulane College. She has been an educator for fifteen years at the elementary, middle, high school, undergraduate and graduate levels. She earned a Master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of New Orleans and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2013.

Her research interests include literacy development, critical literacy, social and emotional learning, and social innovation in education. Blady’s current publications include research on integrating meaningful technology into writing instruction, exploring multi-literacies in teacher professional development, and building classroom community. She currently facilitates the website Social Innovation in Education and encourages the Teacher Preparation and Certification faculty, students, and community partners to collect and record educational resources, and to reflect on the ways in which they have integrated design thinking, social innovation, and social and emotional learning into their practices.

Blady holds the Paul Tudor Jones II Professorship of Social Entrepreneurship from 2016-2021.
