Congratulations on your award! We hope your funding facilitated further learning and we look forward to learning about your experiences and helping you share them with our wider community. Your next step is to document your experience through a blog post and photos on the Taylor Hub. Refer to your award letter for deadlines and other requirements. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
HOW TO WRITE YOUR POST:
We strongly suggest making your blog post more of a story than a report of your experiences. For an example, click here. Your post must include
A title: Use keywords, headlines, and phrases that provide insight into the post’s content. Do NOT title posts generically (i.e. Chicago Trip Blog Post #2) and keep the title to 60-70 characters or less.
At least 5 photos with captions (this includes your featured photo). Your photos should be images related to your experience. This could include photos with other participants (with their permission), photos of the presenters/panels, your conference tag, research etc., your final product, etc). Each post should include at least 5 clear photos and captions describing each photo.
A simple introduction for the top of your post in third person. Follow a format like the sample below. Key points to include are name, area of study, award received and what you did with the award.
“Changemaker Catalyst Award recipient, Ben Baker traveled to Chicago, IL for the Public History Annual Conference in May 20XX to investigate ways to make learning history more meaningful, fun and engaging to elementary students. Ben is junior, Class of 20XX, majoring in education with a minor in history.”
Blog. Use your authentic voice for your blog. This means that you can write it in your primary language (ie. Spanish, French, Japanese, Mandarin, etc.) in any format that feels comfortable. It can be a video, podcast, photo narrative, or classic writing. If you choose to do a video or podcast, include a paragraph of description text.
