Shaina Spector serves as an Assistant Director for Newcomb-Tulane College Academic Advising. In this role, she leads and mentors a team of academic advisors, provides one-on-one advising to students, and collaborates with university partners to create the best possible undergraduate experience for students. She strives to empower her TYL students and advisees as they encounter academic and career challenges, face life transitions, and work toward self-acceptance.

Shaina serves on the board of the Innocence Project of Greater New Orleans, an organization that works to exonerate and support wrongly convicted people. Prior to her work at Tulane, Shaina worked as a residential counselor for Boys Hope Girls Hope New Orleans, a group home that provides housing and college preparation for young people.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in psychology from Tulane University and a Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling from Loyola University New Orleans.
