Lauren Dodaro is a PhD candidate in Cultural Anthropology at Tulane University. Her research is based in a Quichua-speaking Indigenous community in the Ecuadorian Amazon. The research focuses on the transmission of traditional environmental knowledge and its importance for the empowerment of young girls. She completed her dissertation research with the help of the Fulbright-Hayes, National Geographic, and the Jacobs Research Funds.

Dodaro grew up on Long Island, NY. As an undergraduate, she double-majored in art and anthropology at the State University of New York at Potsdam.

Currently, Dodaro is a Graduate Assistant in Research & Social Innovation at the Taylor Center. She is also writing her dissertation and teaching courses in Tulane’s Department of Anthropology.
