Taylor Center: October Writing Challenge
Scholars, faculty, graduate students, community leaders, and other writers interested in the field of social innovation, changemaking, social justice, social impact, among other related subjects are invited to join this 4-week writing challenge.
Where: This is a virtual writing challenge so you can join us from anywhere.
Why: To connect with other writers in the field of social innovation, changemaking, and social impact. Also, hopefully, to help stay motivated and achieve your writing goals, whether it is preparing for a conference, finishing your paper submission, or updating a syllabus.
How:
1) Create your own individual writing plan:
– set goals (e.g., finish a paper for an upcoming conference; upgrade your syllabi by incorporating readings written by underrepresented scholars in your field; etc.)
– dedicate time each week (e.g., regular times – Mon/Wed/Fri 9am to noon; or, dedicate 12 hours a week to writing, no matter when it happens)
– as always, make it work for YOU!
2) ZOOM check-ins schedule:
October 5th, noon-12:30pm (CST): welcome session – the first day to share what we plan to write and meet each other
October 9th, 16th, 23rd, 3:30-4pm (CST): optional end-of-week motivational and semi-social check-ins on Friday
October 30th – noon-12:30pm (CST): end of challenge celebration!
Join to see who is researching what topics, discuss any challenges/share successes, exchange ideas.
While these ZOOM calls are optional, we hope that everyone will join us for the first check-in session and the last check-in that will be a celebration of our accomplishments!
ZOOM link will be sent prior to October 5th.
