Join us for Design Thinking and Donuts – A Team Design Workshop!

As we approach the holidays, let’s reimagine the holiday gathering and advance some team-based design mindsets and practices!

The Taylor Center’s short, public team-design workshop introduces participants to human-centered design (HCD) as a collaborative, creative, information-synthesis process that can generate relevant new ideas, keeping people front and center. The team design workshop will have us efficiently share our experiences and synthesize a lot of field data into key insights and user groups, then break up into small teams. In parallel, rapidly prototype our way to some potential solutions for these users. It’s fast-paced, hands-on, and fun activity. Participants will learn some basic “mindsets” of design-thinking emphasizing synthesis, group brainstorming, and bodystorming of ideas. We will address a universal challenge we can generally all relate to—crafting more meaningful social gatherings during the often stressful holiday season — drawing from all our experiences . By doing (without too much thinking!), you will directly experience how design mindsets bring new, different approaches to understanding and addressing complex problems. We take time at the end to share solutions and  reflect on the workshop and learning objectives.

Free! Open to the public! We welcome faculty, staff, students, and community members. Come alone or bring a friend; we form the teams from the group of participants

Doors open at 12 for welcome. The workshop activities begin promptly at 12:10. Please don’t be late! Please be prepared to stay until the end for maximum learning. But if you do have to leave, or arrive a bit late, we’ll understand. If you have done the regular paired crash course or another team design workshop before, please join us again as repetition is a good way to learn and each workshop is different.
