Drawing from the fields of career education, positive psychology, and design thinking, Life Design is an approach and set of tools that anyone can use to navigate life's transitions and challenges with greater clarity, creativity, and confidence. At the Phyllis M. Taylor Center for Social Innovation and Design Thinking at Tulane University, we teach and practice Life Design to empower students and community members to design a life and career that is aligned with their values, skills, and vision for a better world.
Our life design offerings can help participants:
- Examine limiting beliefs and expand their perspective on what's possible
- Identify how their unique strengths, interests, and values can guide decision-making
- Reframe challenges and setbacks as opportunities for learning and growth
- Brainstorm different possible futures and find low-risk ways to test them before investing significant time, energy, or money
- Design lives and careers with personal meaning that also contribute to positive social and environmental change
