New Orleans based nonprofit, Fund 17, is seeking qualified applicants to its summer fellowship program.
Fund 17 works to create sustainable livelihoods in the 17 wards of New Orleans by providing training and resources to underserved entrepreneurs. Fellows go through an intensive training program covering business basics, soft skills and personal finance before being paired with a local entrepreneur. Fellows work weekly to help their entrepreneurs grow their enterprises and transform their livelihoods.
Ideal applicants will be curious, passionate and hardworking individuals who are energized by challenges and committed to social change. Undergraduates, grad students and professionals are eligible to apply. Spanish and Vietnamese speakers wanted.
Fellowship Job Description
Fund 17 Fellows are passionate and committed individuals that work one-on-one with underserved entrepreneurs in New Orleans in order to grow their enterprises and transform their livelihoods. Summer fellows will go through an intensive training before beginning work with their entrepreneur.
- Entrepreneur intake and goal-setting. Fellows will create action plans for the summer built around the vision of the entrepreneur.
- Weekly meetings with an entrepreneur. Fellows will leverage their training, Fund 17 resources and staff in order to provide quality assistance around accounting, marketing, legal registration and business planning.
- Weekly meetings with fellowship cohort and Fund 17 staff. Deliverables will be assigned throughout the summer to guide fellows’ relationships with their entrepreneurs. Cohort meetings give fellows a time to receive feedback and additional training throughout the summer.The fellowship position is approximately a 10 hour weekly commitment.
