Fueling Innovation to Ignite Higher Education: Ashoka U Exchange 2016, hosted by Tulane University

Fueling Innovation to Ignite Higher Education

Imagine a world where higher education institutions across the globe serve as vehicles for positive, sustainable social impact and innovation.

This year, Tulane University is proud to host the 2016 Ashoka U Exchange from February 25-27, 2016. The theme for this year’s Exchange is “Fueling Innovation to Ignite Higher Education.” During the three days of the Exchange, participants will join hundreds of other innovators in higher education who are reimagining how to utilize colleges and universities as platforms to catalyze long-term change and social impact. At the Ashoka U Exchange, inspiration is sparked and deep connections are formed with peers who share a common passion for higher education.

Ashoka U, the University branch of the world’s largest network of social entrepreneurs worldwide, Ashoka, recognizes Tulane University as one of 33 Changemaker Campuses in the world. Each year, a different Changemaker Campus hosts the Ashoka U Exchange, the world’s largest convening of social innovators embedding social innovation in higher education.

Building on Ashoka’s vision for a world where “Everyone is a Changemaker,” the Exchange will unite over 700 changemakers from 150 universities in over 25 countries for three full days of workshops, panels, and master classes to explore topics such as curriculum design, impact measurement, design thinking models, university/community partnerships, and higher education’s role in public policy, co-curricular programming, and empathy education. The Exchange will also feature 12 site visits in New Orleans to introduce participants to social innovation throughout the city.

Ashoka U believes that colleges and universities, regardless of size or type or geographic location, can unlock student potential to be lifelong changemakers. The Exchange is devoted to advancing key conversations around a range of topics such as: fostering inclusive changemaker communities, reimagining the classroom experience, building community partnerships, creating student pathways for innovation, measuring the impact of changemaking, and pedagogy to cultivate changemakers, social entrepreneurs and social intrapreneurs in and through higher education.
