Social Innovation and Design Thinking for Global Health: “What’s it all about anyway!?”

Professor Murphy will share a theoretical framework  for social innovation, highlighting the role of creative individuals in improving lives through collaborative networks. This draws from her teaching and research on development studies, technology change in rural Kenya, and with Tulane’s social innovation program and Taylor Center. This scholarly work aims to enrich global health and development education and practice with the fields of social innovation and human-centered design.

 Laura L. Murphy, PhD is Clinical Associate Professor, Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences (GCHB) and affiliate faculty with the Stone Center for Latin American Studies.  She is the Carnegie Corporation of New York Professor of Social Entrepreneurship (2011), and is acting as Design Thinking Outreach Coordinator and Lead Convener of Graduate & Professional Programs for the Phyllis M. Taylor Center for Social Innovation and Design Thinking (Taylor.tulane.edu).
