Please join our students as they present their final projects for our core SISE classes and electives. Feel free to stop by the Taylor Center for any of the following events:

SISE 3010 Design Thinking for Social Impact with Allison Schiller | Tuesday, May 2  2-4pm, and Thursday, May 4  3-5 PM

Student teams will present their design solutions to our community partners. The teams have spent the majority of the semester using the tools and methods of design thinking to tackle challenges faced by our partner organizations.

SISE 2010 Intro to SISE with Rebecca Otten | Thursday, May 11 1-5 PM

Students will participate in a poster session, where they will share their semester-long individual research project exploring the root causes of a social and/or environmental problem as well as analysis of an existing solution. Multiple students will present simultaneously, so you have the chance to choose which presentations you are interested in hearing.

COMM 4820 Beyond Neutral Ground with Vicki Mayer & Rebecca Mark | Friday, May 12  1-3 PM

The class will have 9 projects about local root cultures on display that we’d love comments on. There are no presentations, but team members will be available to discuss their process.

SISE 6020; AHST 4220/6220 PROTOTYPING PLACES and SOCIAL (re)CONNECTION with Marcella Del Signore, Lars Gilbertson, Heidi Schmalbach | Thursday, May 11, 8:30am-12:00pm  & Saturday, May 13, 8:00am-12:00pm, On-Site/full scale Prototypes test @ Crescent City Farmers Market (750 Carondelet at Julia St.)

Students will present their solutions and full scale Prototypes for place making interventions in downtown New Orleans to rethink social connectivity in urban settings and communities.

The projects focus on the physical and social construction of “public space” and how this relates to the maintenance of the “public realm” through human-centered design approaches.
