Conversations in Social Innovation

09.09.2016 | 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Our first fall “Conversations in Social Innovation” kicks off Friday September 9th, 2-4 PM with a theme of “Meet the New Professors in Social Entrepreneurship. We welcome Shannon Blady, PhD of Teacher Preparation and Teacher Certification (TPCP), and Tom Sherry, PhD, co-chair of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology (EEB) as two of our newest “Professors of Social Entrepreneurship”.

Our panelists will share their ideas for social innovation scholarship, explain how it fits into their disciplines and interests, and field questions from our audience and hosts. The co-hosts for this event are Joshua Schoop and Laura Murphy.

The focus audience for these conversations is young scholars, research partners, and anyone interested in the ways their research efforts can connect with the pursuit of social innovations, i.e., new, effective, and system-aware solutions to persistent social problems. We welcome doctoral students, faculty, post-doctoral researchers keen to learn more about research in social entrepreneurship, design thinking and social innovation.

We aim to promote networking, explore pathways in social innovation research, and advance our social innovation research collaborations –at Taylor, Tulane, with local universities, and community partners.

Light refreshments will be offered.

RSVPs are encouraged but not required.
