The Battle of New Orleans: Political Economy of Post-Katrina Development

04.07.2017 | 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

This presentation will offer a sneak preview to Dr. Schneider’s forthcoming book based on work conducted during his time in New Orleans and after. The book explores how politics and the local economy have reorganized over the last decade. Who won? Who lost? What does New Orleans teach us about the way urban political transition impacts development, poverty, and inequality?

Aaron Schneider is the Leo Block Chair at the University of Denver School of International Studies, and he previous served as Associate Professor of Political Science at Tulane University. He is the author of State-Building and Tax Regimes in Central America, as well as articles and chapters focused on the development in Latin America and South Asia.
