Gambit Weekly’s annual “40 Under 40” list honors local innovative professionals under the age of 40. Taylor Community Innovator Circle partner Aaron Frumin of unCommon Construction was honored in the local publication’s 2017 list.
Frumin is founder and executive director of unCommon Construction, a nonprofit using the build process to enhance learning and empower youth in a real-world, hands-on learning environment. During the program, student apprentices from high schools across New Orleans design and build a house, gaining hourly pay, internship credit and leadership experience. unCommon Construction has built six houses, employed more than 70 students and distributed $60,000 in pay and scholarships since 2015.
